Hi:

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how you make a screen shot like the one on this page: http://www.what-next.com/members/members.html

Thanks

Curtis,

Those images are created from screen captures from an application such as Corel Capture, Paint Shop Pro, etc. Or you can do what I do...use the Print Screen key on you keyboard. The Print Screen key will place an image of the screen on the clipboard. Simply paste it into your favorite image editor and get busy.

The advantage of using a tool created for capturing screens is that they offer utilities to capture client-area only, full-screen, etc. You can do the same with a simple crop. The tools are named differently in the different tools, but the idea is the same -- cut away what you don't want.

In the case of the images that were created for the forum, they had size restrictions of 100x100 pixels. You may not have that for restriction...To create an image of your site, I Print Screened twice, pasting the images between captures. I did it once with the page scrolled all the way up, and once all the way down. To achieve the result, i pasted the two images together on a canvas large enough and then cropped out the final image.

To generate a thumbnail, resize the image. This will be different in some tools, but the idea is the same -- reduce the image to the size needed. When creating thumbnails of sites, I generally stick with an image width of 150 pixels and let the length grow proportionately.

I have included two samples -- one of your site and one of mine. Again, yours took two separate images to create, mine took four. The process is no different, just repeat the steps.

Curtis,
I used print screen/paste. In fact if no one has any objections can I change all the graphics on the page http://www.what-next.com/members/members.html to screenns shots - make it more balanced.

Hey, that's cool - here's one I just whacked together of my site:

But isn't their a freeware Windows app which will do this automatically - it's a bit of a bind to do it manually...

And today's award for the longest screen shot graphic goes to.... Jeffrey Elisson! You've won a trip to Gif Lube to tone down on your graphics
I think I'll come as well actually.
