Cool. I actually like how easy PSP is to use and since I don't really want to pay so much for Photoshop, the price is right for PSP.
Hopefully PSP7 will add some more much-needed features to actually compete with Photoshop feature-wise...

I agree with most: Photoshop rocks, but the price is steep. I got it though with a student discount that brought it down to around $300 I believe. I forget...

I couldnt get to the page, not sure if its my ISP or not. I`m a huge PSP fan. I`ll argue with anyone about how its a strong alternative to Photoshop anytime!
Really looking forward to V7, is it being trialed in a newsgroups again? Any details on that?
Finally any other places I can dl the beta?

It's -not- a strong opposing product.
Paint Shop Pro integrates -extremely- well with what? One other program? Photoshop integrates with about 10. The simple fact of the matter is that Photoshop is, and will be for a long long time, the industry's best.

I like PSP6 as it's very easy to understand. I recently purchase a book from Amazon "Paint Shop Pro6 - Visual Insights ". It's an excellent book.
I am now learning layers, maskng, tubes, frames, vector graphics and many more advance techniques required of a web designer where I am very weak in this area. Hopefully in a few months time I am able to master the finer points of graphics design.

Hi Mike!
I`m going to enjoy this reply. Please don`t see this as an attack. Its interesting that people argue that Photoshop is the best, therefore anything else is useless.
If you look at cars, you could arguably suggest that Ferrari is the best car in the world. But how many people actually own one compared to the huge range of inferior cars?
The point is that the best is not the only factor you should think about when choosing to use a graphics program. Photoshop is too expensive, its horrendously expense. All that power which makes it unquestionably the most powerful 2D graphics program on the planet comes at a price in terms of ease of use to. There is so much to photoshop that actually getting the damn thing to do anything with or without experience can be a severe pain in the arse.
Part of this problem is down to Photoshops legacy problems. Adobe cannot bring out a new streamlined interface anymore. It has to maintain the old interface so its customers wont have a benny when they upgrade and find they cant get any work done for three months while they re-learn the program.
This is not the case with Paintshop pro. PSP is extremlely well thought out, very intuitive interface that most people can pick up and master in a few days. It has a lot under the hood which really does serve the total needs of web designers and it has a good stab at providing for other mediums too! Its cheap and thats a good thing in my opinion.
The fact is that PSP is powerful enough for most people. Only a select few actually need the incredible power that comes with a good knowledge of how to use all of photoshops advanced tools.
Integration is not an issue. A program should be designed with an interface which works as well as it can to let you get the job done. Photoshop fails badly in that area and I can happily quote a list of big design faults and back up how PSP compares very favourably on many levels.

Hmm, well that's an interesting observation about the cars. But another thing you have to take into account is that the price range is a lot different. Sure, people would rather pay $60 for PSP, but they can get a better product in Photoshop for $600, which most people can afford. A ferrari is a bad example 'cause most people don't have $100k+ to shell out...

Most Nameless Graphics designers dont have 600 dollars to shel out. Such as me for example. : ) I barely have 2 pennies to rub together.

Agreed Grandmaster,
Its a big investment and you will need to keep on re-investing to keep the program up to date, and if you want to compete favourably with other companies you`ll also need to shell out a lot on third party plugs like KPT.
For the same price as Photoshop I can arm myself with a suite of graphics apps and thats exactly what I have done
I`ll proudly display the work I`ve done in PSP and announce that it was PSP which got the job done becuase the fact of the matter is its a very powerful tool which suffers from stuffy old photoshop users giving it a hard time! ehehehe

I don't announce that i make my graphics with psp, cause some people just want their site to be made in adobe, but i dont announce that io make it using photoshop eather, but yeah if they ask, ill tell them i think PSP is the greatest.
I like psp, but adobe photshop does look good on a resume.
And when photshop gets a bettr ui, i might switch over.. they will ahve t drop the proce a little too : ).
The names might have some meaning=
Photshop* Photgraphs, working on photo's technically a photoshop.
Paintshop* Making graphics, paint, technically a paint shop, or design shop
