You can also just download a 3D font of the internet. You might want to search for: 3d fonts.

I'm using the trial of PSP 6 now. I also have Photoshop 5 and Ulead PhotoImpact 6. In any of them the inner bevel works well for 3-D looking text. To do it by hand type the text in black, blur it, type again in the color your want, place on top so that you get like a drop shadow, blur again, adjust gamma to it's brightest, (your image will look like poop at this point) blur again, type the text again. place on top, keep adding text/blur/adjust gamma until you have a thickness you are satified with.
