overlapping of text and images
Okay - here is the story.
I am working on a clients website and they keep telling me that they are seeing the text and images overlapping. Here is part of the last email I received:
-------------
...she was looking up our web site using Internet Explorer , the newest version. She
said that when she opened the Productivity Systems web site , the text and
photos on each page were overlapping. This happened once before when I was
using Netscape Navigator. ...
...why the web site looks fine when I view it with CompuServe, but with any
other Internet Browser the text and photos seem to be overlapping.
-------------------
I have netscape and IE and I am not seeing this problem at all.
Could you please take a look at this site and let me know what you see. Let me know what browser and version you are using.
If you see a problem could you please let me know what it is and how to fix it.
Here is the URL: http://www.productivity-systems.com
I really appreciate all of your help!
Sincerely.
Brooke

Hi Brooke,
Just checked it in IE 5 and NS 4.7 and views fine. Just gave the source a quick glance and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
Only suggestion I could make that might solve the problem is to nest a table into the existing table cell that contain both a graphic and text and put your graphics and text in different table cells. Only thing I can think of right off hand.

I had a quick look with IE5 and NS4.7, looked OK with both.

IE5: every looks good. The e-mail address on the bottom of all pages has 'http://' in front of it.
NS4.7: ever looks even better.
The only thing I would do to solve the problem 100% would be to have the graphics away from the text, like above the text or something...

Ok Brooke, here is the story:
I have a similar problem. It occurs when you are using text in a table that has an image as its background.
On my site, the image is suppossed to contain a slogan on top and a soft background in the middle, over which the text is supposted to be displayed. The valign of the table is set to middle, so the text is not overlapping with the slogan on top of the image.
BUT, if you manually select the font of your IE to "larger" or "largest", the text is not going to fit entirely over the "soft background" part of the image, it's going to overlap with the "slogan" part of the image. Even though my font size is set to "1", IE still makes the font size too big, which causes the text to overlap.
Frankly, I'm not sure how to solve this problem, but at least we identified it.
Best of luck. If you find a solution, please, please send it to me @ [email protected]
Thanks.

Eugene:
Why not just make the slogan a separate image, and place it in its own table cell? Leave the background as is, but remove the text from it, and place it in the cell it already is in. Then, just create a new cell on top of the text cell and place the heading in it. That should work... if you have questions about that method contact me at [email protected] or ICQ 11531753

I want to thank all of you for taking the time to look into this.
I spoke with my client and they seem to be okay with it, knowing that other people are not having the same problem.
Thanks again.
