I have seen quite a few sites lately using this kind of style:
Active Links are: Black, bold and non-underlined.
Hover Link is usually blue.

I personally think that it is horrid.

Here is an example.

Yeah, it's not bad. I've seen a LOT worse Smiling

However, I'm still of the school that mandates the underlining of small text links. The headlines don't look bad, but I think the small links on the left should be underlined. Many people have learned to expect that.

As the sheer stupidity of making links look identical to headlines or text.

I had no idea what you were talking about until I ran the mouse all over the page willy nilly.

I agree- the majority of Internet users have come to expect underlines on links... The headlines are OK, since they are just another way to get to the story... but the full story link should certainly be underlined so visitors know where to go for more information. By using that style, they are virtually cutting off access to the non-techno savy class - other than the front page of their web site.
