Netscape vs IE animated gif's - Why do animated gif's come out so bad on Netscape?

I'm new at this, but it seems to me that (1) Netscape is a lot pickier than IE in the way it likes its HTML written, and (2) animated gif's generally fall apart on netscape. The latter has happened to me twice. First when I tried to enlarge an animation by specifying its height and width, and second when trying to use an animated gif as background wallpaper. Does anyone know of a resource that outlines differences in what these two applications can handle? Can I use animations as wallpaper in Netscape?

You are correct for (1) and as far as point (2) goes, nerver try and enlarge an image with the HTML width/height tags. Always use a graphics program for this.
