Need Help With Header
I'm working on a site for the local library, and I can't seem to get the header to look right.
I designed the logo (not very good, but it's a first attempt) so I have flexibility there. The librarian wants purple, but I can't seem to work it into the site, yet... I'll use it as an undertone.
Anyways. Here's the current site:

My first attempt:

The template I'm working on:

She wants the site pretty simple, and to somewhat resemble the current one, so as not to confuse people. I'm thinking about doing something with ghost images like you see there. Any comments, ideas and help are appreciated.

Forget it. I figured out what to do. You can see the layout, that I pretty much like at

I do still want comments on the layout, and any ideas for the logo.

Can you make the wording on the logo slant as they really would on a book? (see http://66.39.121.82/library-book.gif ) Even better is if you could have it curve out like a paperback book would look.
I like the idea of a photo of the building on the site, upon first visiting the site, can feel there is an actual building out there. (although I would straigten the photo, possibly retaking it).
For those who may come in from a search engine, have somewhere on the homepage the library's location (at least state, as someone may just do a search for Cambridge Library in attempt to look up the library in their community other than this one)
I do prefer the color scheme/layout of your first design.

I was trying to get it to slant right, but I couldn't get it on the exact same slant with the current software I'm using (PSP 6).
The current photo is definently not what I want, but until I get a chance to take a new one, it's what I have to work with as a placeholder.
Thanks for the tip. Can't beleive I forgot that one.
I really don't like my first one very much, but I'll have to see what the librarian thinks, or if I have to do a whole new redesign (ugh).

I dont really like the navigation, or the color scheme. I know she wants basic but maybe some nice gfx... spice it up a bit
