hi,

Im not an expert when it comes to designing layouts so i could do with some suggestions/comments on my latest layout design.

This layout ive been working on is the second layout i have designed, its also the first layout i have made to be compatible with all resolutions (except below 800x600) Confused

anyway, heres the layout;
http://www.rolldeepcrew.com/testing.shtml

I could do with some opinions on how to improve on the layout or display of the site.

This site is based on a uk garage band/crew/group (whatever u wanna call it).

thanks in advance.

I noticed the top banner fits multi sized screens but the text is the same on all. to fix this dont use a fixed td cell width for the text.
The image top right looks a lil cramped, almost like its being cut off

In Opera6 (as opera6) it loads same as IE5 except it has a white border around the lower table and loads slowly, looks like you have about 100k of graphics, look at changing formats (use .gifs for single colours) and compressing them
In Netscape 4.7 you have a few spaces and gaps, always use   in empty table cells, should be:

Maybe add a little colour into the top right image to add a bit of oompf into it, like the overall colours

I just feel that the top banner part is a bit too big/deep maybe move everything up slightly so that it doesn't overpower a smaller screen. Are you going to have any other colour on there, maybe the links??

You could add some sort of tagline just below the top part in that blank space. You know, like maybe a saying or phrase that the group uses.

Also, I would work on the title graphic. IMO, the quality of that graphic could use just a wee bit of improvement. A little color in that graphic would really bring out the site.

is the white border still there?

i have no made sure the images aren't hoggin time, all the images total up to around 30k.

as for the tags, i tried doing that but for some reason i saw gaps everywhere in the layout.

yea i did that now, any better?

i made the right image small because it was originally a 70 x 70px image and its the only image i can find of the crew

thanks for your input

Your copyright notice at the bottom is lying over some of the text. And that little what ever thingy (can't think of it's name Wink) just under the image at the top right is cut off a bit. Screen shots below.

I vaguely remember the other design. Think it was dark blue. This one isn't bad. Has a lot of white space. Maybe just a bit too much. Probably won't look so empty when you finish it though.

It still needs some color. My eye was drawn to the colored image at the top. But then again I am wierd. LOL Me thinks the font could be bigger too.

A random lyric or something would be good.

Maybe some of the others can offer some good advise.

Ya doin good!! Smiling

grey can be a good color but when its heavily compressed it actually turns pinkish. the edges of the main logo and welcome are on the pinkish side.
the main text adjusts well to bigger screen size well in Opera6 but not so well in IE5.
as for the copyright section (what disaster-master posted above) works ok at bigger than 800x600, but 800 or less is what is shown above.
I think your on the right track but need a bit of fine tuning here and there, maybe take the image of the group off the edge, maybe add it into another white box like you have now for the logo, so you have two white boxs with arrow images in the middle (name on left) or something.
I'd also increase your font size at least by 1
keep up the good work
