... er, wouldn't that be the same as a still from the movie? Open the movie in the movie editor (or if it's smaller, in PhotoShop or a bitmap graphics editor), and select the frame you want.

More here on how to get a screen capture itself.

You can rip stills from a video in photoshop? or are you thinking of premier?

You've never opened ImageReady? It comes bundled with Photoshop.

Open Image Ready, open your video file.

You will be prompted to either:
1.Open the whole thing (all frames)

or

2.Select a range - (you slide the controller in the preview pane to select)

or

3. Select every (insert number) frame.

What it does is opens the video file up in the animation frames.

PowerDVD has a capture mode, press 'c' during playback...

Then paste into Photoshop.

Whats the difference?

The difference is whether you need the application or just the frame. If someone needs to show a movie in, say, iMovie, then a screenshot is needed. If they need to show a frame of a movie for another purpose, then they need a still, or a frame of the movie.

Two very different things, since one is the operating system or third party screen capture applications and the other can be a graphics application.

Hmmmm...I'm not familiar with divx, so I can't really offer any help.

Maybe do a search for something that would allow you to either to a capture or grab a still?

Or maybe look into something that would allow you to convert to a format the IR can read?

Go Google up some searches, maybe you'll find something. Also I'd check download.com to see if any untilities are available.

steveclifford, if only it was that simple - no movie players allow you to capture a frame via the 'print screen' method, it displays a blank area when you try to paste into a paint package.

I have done it also, but with avi's and mov's. This is however, not the first time I've heard of someone not being able to get a screen grab from video.
