I have a little dilema in regards to a client of mine. He needs a reliable hit counter, preferably a free one, and he needs it to include a visitor tracker feature. He would like it to be fairly attractive-looking, with little or no advertising on it. Also, like me, he uses NS Composer. Any ideas?

Thanks Curtis! I already set that client up with a counter/site tracker from www.thecounter.com
but I will start referring your suggested site from now on, it looks great. -o[)
Thanks again.

Hi again CyberDog,
I still use Extreme tracking for my site. I like it but am considering changing to Curtis' choice.
Visit:

PS Thanks for altering your signature to warn of adult content. Why not use UBB code:

JP,
Why pay for something when you can get it for free?
Cyberdog,
I received your email. Did you ever go to my web site? If you did, you will have found out that I sell VenerNet's service. I asked about your question and they told me a few things.
1. They want to provide quality service, and adult sites take up too much CPU and bandwidtth.
2. They provide web hosting service for business sites, and not sex sites.
3. It isn't good to have your site hosted on an adult hosted server, just like it isn't good to have your ISP to host you.
I hope you see what I'm getting at. They want businesses, but not that kind of businesses.
Thank You for considering our service.
Check out this hosting company though: http://www.dreamhost.com I have heard many good things about them, and they host adult sites.
Sincerely,
Curtis Stevens

Thanks Curtis.
My Models site seems to fall into that "grey area" when hosting sites are looking at it. I have no sex on my site, BUT...some of the models have nude (tasteful) pics in their porfolios. My site shouldn't be hosted on an adult hosting site, you are right, and that's why I am looking, but it is a sea of confusion out there when considering where to have your site hosted. At present, I require a free hosting package that allows some nude content, 20 MB or better, with a fairly fast server and good tech support. Say what you will about web1000, they have answered all my technical questions promptly, and have dealt with my "glitch" problems quite quickly. I haven't noticed their server ever being down so far, even though they have been upgrading. When I am FTPing, the speed is great. I just don't care for the sexy banner that they put there. It is too big as well. If anyone has any alternatives for me, by all means....
=o[)
Thanks,
CD

CD,
you might want to contact communitech as they have some allowance for nude/non adult content.

For a great free hit counter visit http://www.fxweb.com/.
I have been using this hit counter for a while now and have never had any troubles with it.
It loads quickly, it is accurate and you dont need to include banner advertising.

Hello cyberdog!
It seems that you like your current provider. Why do you want to switch? VenerNet will not host adult sites because they have their reasons. Sorry, but I have no control. I just have to back them up.
If you really want some else, I would recommend www.dreamhost.com I have been hanging around other forums, and all I hear is good stuff about them. They are cheap, and it would be worth a shot.
Have a nice day!

Well, as I said above, all is great with my current host, but I really don't care for the huge ad banner with xxx content in it. I need a free web space provider that allows for a little nude content, but no sexual images. Mine is a modeling site, not a xxx site.
I find that some providers make no distinction, or seem to lack the ability to differentiate between the 2 areas of content. I also have no links to any sexual content sites either.

Hi Cyberdog!
If a 10 year old can see it, then they can host it.
Thanks

Thanks Curtis! I don't know if you've ever checked out my site, but If you do, be sure and imagine it with no 'sexy banner' on it, and you tell me, okay? It is no more sexy than a Vicoria's Secret catalogue, which any household can have on their coffee table for all (including kids) to see. I really want to change hosts and get rid of the xxx banner. I will check out communitech as well, thanks. If you can help, that would be great. cheow,
CD

Sorry, I guess that I forgot to give you my URL...
It's http://cdmodels.web1000.com
(adult content on the ad banner from host)
Thanks again Curtis
Also, can you tell me the URL for communitech? All I can find is a site promoting wireless communiations, not web hosting. =0))

I agree that AXS is good also, and I have used that before. However, I also like to use extreme tracking, because, in my opinion, it provides the stats in a better format. Although it is just for the front page, they are a really great service. If a client wants hidden stats only for the entire site, though, I recommend AXS. Also, there is usually some program offered through the web hosting company, but I think custom programs work better.
