Looking for ideas
I am looking for a way to freshen up this site: http://www.affluentusa.com. I have run out of ideas. I is designed to sell a magazine and advertisement. It doesn't do very well with alexa yet.

Some very quick ideas:
I think what you need to do here is simplify everything. Go for a clean, elegant look. Lose the funky effects - the beveling, the sparkle, the textured background. All of that.
The tabbed navigation is not really appropriate for this type of site IMO. It's more of a utilitarian design strategy where you want to go for something more elegant. I think a left navigation menu would work better for this site.
The photography on this site is very good - that should be showcased more. Make the base font size a little smaller (but not too small) - for this site an ideal design would have very good typography and be designed on a grid. Mark Boulton has some good articles on typgoraphy and grids.
Design Melt Down is a good site for inspiration - check out the Elegant and Typography sections in particular..
Good luck!

What i would say is make the header up top a side frame/table.. Make only the major links on top. Should clear it up a little more that way
