Layout Problem In My Website.

Recently, I have launched my online store created by a profession. Little Genius Online (http://www.littlegeniusonline.com) he has used open source template to create the online store. However, I am not satisfied with the layout or design. For examples,

When I added sub-categories to the category,
No "Category Title" shown when the category is clicked;
Random New Products are shown on the category page when the category is clicked.

On the other hand, when sub-categories are not added to the category,
"Category Title" is shown on the category page;
No random New Products are shown but only the products of that category are shown;
A drop down list of brands available.

I would like to add sub-categories but I would like to show the "Category Title", No random New products and a drop down list.

Can anyone help me to modify the scripts or guide me to verify the problem?

Can't the person who made the site for you amend them? After all, you paid for the site to be made to your speicification, right? Even if they charge a small fee, it's gonna be worth it rather than messing with the code yourself.

He claimed that it is the limit of the open source template. And he is slow to respond or not even reply my e-mail or phone. I am getting frustrated with him already.

Its not the template, maybe hes using some cms or other automation software he is using that has the limitation, any template can be reformatted or redesigned...
