ie vs mozilla layout

I'm looking for a topic or article about the differences when displaying a webpage in IE or in Firefox.

I have fixed the different graphical elements of my page template in a table. when I preview it in Firefox, everything ok, but with IE, the row heights are changing for every page using this template.
I have specified a height for all rows, but IE don't "use" the heights...

Suggestions, ideas, solutions?
