hi guys,
was wondering if anoyone would be kind enough to help me out...
I'm trying to sort out my website (DavidJaymz.com) and I'm stuck...
I like the idea of having something like this (http://www.guistuff.com/guispecs.shtml?0027) but want something more personalised... the site will have four mains areas (Music, Space, Cars & forums)so I don't know whether to have four similar but different looks...
I've seen sites that have a very cool metallic feel to them and i've done tutorials with paint shop pro and photoshop and got some nice looks. I just can't seem to come up with a whole look...
I also did this last night in photoshop()
Ramble I know but here's the Q...
If anyone is feeling generous and would like to do a layout for me using metals and fire, or just give me some tips on how to get the whole look I'd be very grateful...

The thing with those metallic looks is that the final graphics tend to be rather large. It's going to be hard to do something that changes on every page without having huge download speed problems.

I think that a good thing to do with these mettalic interfaces is to draw something out on paper first. Get the basic shape and design that you want and then recreate in photoshop. One good site for 3D style tutorials is http://www.eyeball-design.com (I think that's it! I'm on my mom's dial-up right now so I don't feel like checking). I really can't think of any ways to integrate fire with a 3D interface...

I kept about 6 layers in the PSD which allows you to change the color of the layout behind the fire for each page. The buttons denote the page you are on and are a seperate layer.

Have fun slicing it out.

e-mail me for the psd.

REMOVED

I will remove that address after you send me an e-mail before the spam bots get em (And before people say, oh but it cant its a database dynamic site, think again.) Depending on the programming on this board this board can be indexed if modified.

That was nice of you Keegan. I love the layout, especially the second one. But I personally think that the page with this image will take quite a while to load Smiling

They are concept images, they can be tweaked dropping some of the center color to help the page load.

I just wanted David to be able to see what he was wanting in real life. He can then make the decisions in slicing it out, dropping color etc.

Those types of layouts are challenging, and yes you nailed it because of load time.
