I Need Advice From Audio Expert
Okay, i have a question. i am in the process of building my site and i want to add audio that can be listened to but, not downloaded unless purchased i have all the purchase areas covered, i am just unsure which player is best to add to my site and how to configure it so that people cannot download only listen to clips. i will have links to purchase but i would like to have it setup where there are two links one that says"preview" and one that says "purchase" i know how to follow through on the puchase one but, not the preview.

The reality is, if they can listen to the whole song, they can have it. IMO your best bet is to only let them preview a section of it.
If you do have the full song for preview you want to play it in some type of flash prayer that will stream it. While I have only prepared audio for free listening, I am interested in what methods people will suggest.
I do have an ability at finding the cracks in programming and protection, so when you do have something up and running, let me know where it is and I will test it for you and let you know before you go live. (PM me the link if you want)

Yes, you can use flash players for your music, I made a site for a client like this before where I used soundnails for the playing of the music file and encoding... I only used a lower bit rate music so they can listen to the whole song, but if they want the higher-bit-rate version they go purchase it... Thats what I did for them...

Flash is good for stopping joe public, but for a serious hacker, it's not very hard to extract the audio from a flash file (there are loads of apps out there to do this). Like they say, only ever make low-fi 'clips' available to the general public.

Also... I have software on my machine that can record ANY audio from ANY app running on my computer - therefore, if I was listening to a hi quality version of your song through flash I could easily steal it using that software (I normally use it to record live streams in real player and the like).
