How to create a web site screen shot or thumbnail of a webpage?
Does anyone know how to create a simple screenshot of a webpage? I wanted to create a portfolio section kinda of showing off my work without make the visitor goto the site, or having to create a seperate logo. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks~!

Have the page you want a screen shot of, in view. Then hit "alt" and "print screen" together. Then you open a photo editing program like Photoshop and paste the image in there. Crop it to the size you want...and...voila!

That's how you do it... Thanks Brooke. I used to know but I had forgotten.

You can also just push the Print Screen button to capture a picture of your entire monitor. It is easier to do it the other way though...

Consider going into fullscreen mode in IE (F11) and pressing the Printscreen button to take a nice capture.
ALT+PRINTSCREEN = Capture active window
PRINTSCREEN = Capture the entire screen, taskbar and all

Thanks for the F11 advice. I just learned something new. I love when that happens.

Everyone assumes you are using a PC.
If you are using a Mac:
Control + Shift + 3 = entire screen
Control + Shift + 4 gives a cursor with which you can drag an area to select
In either case you will hear a click and a generic pict will be saved automatically in the boot hard drive folder.

If I'm not mistaken, on the Mac platform, the correct keystroke would be:
COMMAND + Shift + 3 : Entire screen shot
COMMAND + Shift + 4 : Selectable area screen shot
The good thing about Mac OS X is that your screenshot can be automatically saved as a .PNG or .PDF file. You can easily open such files in a graphic editing program like Photoshop. As PDF files, they're perfect to email or post online, since almost everyone's got Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on their systems.

Now it looks like SearchBliss resurrected a 5-year old thread! There was a spammer was in here to bump it up first in case anyone is wondering.
F11 works in all major browsers AFAIK. Although in Firefox there's still a little bit of chrome. That is a good idea though.
