How to change my logo in a Joomla?

I have installed Joomla in my site. Used third party Joomla template. I need to change my logo. I have found the file location in php (logo.jpg). But I am not able to upload/overwrite anything into the site thro ftp. Is it because I am using a 3rd party template or becoz Joomla never favors a 3 rd parties? Confused

You can always change logos, have you had the proper permissions to overwrite files in ftp? Why don't you try delering the logo.jpg file in ftp and upload your new one?
