I have visited COUNTLESS consulting sites to get a good professional layout, and I cannot come up with anything.

I am a web development / software development company.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

Thanks,
ScAndal

That's a really broad question! I take it that you have checked out coolhomepages.com and places like that?

What you need to do first is decide on some sort of theme - whether it be a set of colours, a symbol, a design style, something! What's your company name? What does that name make you think of? Make a list of any ideas you can derive from that.

Megan,
Thanks for the link. I was not aware of that site, but it looks very interesting. It should aid me in my quest for a layout.

Thanks,

Welcome to TWF. I always find that the company logo leads to the colour scheme and then that leads onto the design. The link that Megan should give you lots of inspiration.

Interesting poll they had on that site about what resolution do you optimise your designs for and the results came out as :
1024x768...50,63%
800x600...29,7%
1280x1024...12,45%
1600x1200...4,81%
Other...2,4%

I thought 800x600 would have been higher!

For sure! I wonder who these people are (designing for 1024) and why they're doing that. I mean, I haven't heard of anyone whose stats show more at 1024 than 8x6! Although, it could be that the types of "designers" who like to ignore the user experience may be the ones to frequent coolhomepages.
