Grrrrrr colours don't match
Why can't two programs from the same developer match colours????? I'm trying to match a graphic made in Fireworks with a background of supposedly the same colour (CC0000) but when I insert the graphic into dreamweaver it is noticeably different against the background. How do I stop this nonsense. They are on the same monitor and software from the same developer why can't they work it out????

Try checking your colour settings, sometimes, they make all the difference

You probably have web-safe colours on in Dreamweaver.
Uncheck 'snap to web safe' to use the full palette.

Thankyou I think you're both right. I did have 'snap to web colors' selected and I don't know what color setting I had but I'll keep an eye on it.
Do we need to bother with the websafe palette anymore. It was created for dinosaur computers with limited colour range so do we need to stick to it still? Let's face it they're crap.
I am designing an e-newsletter for a client and they're wanting colours that just aren't in the palette. Should I stick with it or use the full colour range?

Nah, nobody in their right mind would still use web-safe palette - and well nobody does either i don't think. You're perfectly fine to use the full palette

Of course, it will always depend on your audience, but in general using non-web-safe colors is fine now.

FYI here are some stats i have collected on 10 websites over a few months.
Screen Colours:
32 bit = 84.26%
16 bit = 10.26%
24 bit = 3.66%
8 bit = 1.83%
81% of people use Internet Explorer, 63% on a 1024x768 resolution screen with 97% of people running on Windows.
