Good CSS example site
I just came across CSS Play, a site with tons of examples of CSS.
The author also had something interesting to say about CSS layouts:

Nice and basic, no formatting to get in your way
Some people at digg were complaining that they looked ugly. Um, that's not the point! It is sort of annoying to sort through all the formatting stuff on code samples to find the bits that really make it work.
ETA: Upon closer examination, some of the techniques on both these sites are a little questionable so beware! A good starting point when you need to know how to do something though
