Gif too big to load - my logo gif is way too big
Hi, I am looking for some advice on how to reduce the size of a gif file. I am working in Corel Photo-Paint 8. Any advice would be helpful. I will also be working with photo shop.

just use the graphic optimization feature of one of those programs if they have one. if not, try paint shop pro 6.0. also, there are several online gif shrinkers, but i can't remember a url off hand.

Also, try saving in the minimum number of colors necessary that your file still looks adequate.

Try using photoshops export/gif option, then reduce the number of colors, to the amount of colors you think the image would need {including anti-aliased outlines} and try undoing the dither to global pallete option. Remember that if your image is colorful, you may have better luck with jpg. Because even a large file with few colors will have a small file size as a gif. If that doesn't help, try using ulead smart saver pro [I should be a sales rep for these guys :)]

Then you can control everything with the image through adobe photoshop. Just file/export/ulead then it will tell you the size of the image while you are adjusting properties such as dither and # of colors.

Thanks all, for the advice. I will try to work with it as a jpg. It is just too big for a gif file. Do the graphic programs work the same way for a jpg as a gif?
