i have a phpbb board on my website and i have never used vbulletin or invision board. but i like this layout which says how many viewers are viewing the forum on the index page. can i somehow get this king of script for phpbb?
any idea?

That is a feature on PHPbb. It is under "Who is Online" at the bottom of the page. Check out this default install and you can see it http://demo.opensourcecms.com/phpbb/

that is there on my forum too, but i want the feature which says how many person viewing the particular part (forum) of the message board.

Well, I am sure it could be done. I looked at the code of Phpbb a while ago and Phpbb tracks where each member is (the page that he is visiting).
