Hello,

Not sure if this is the right place for this or not.

What would you use on a web site as the font and color? Most text are black, but what if your color them was red, like this site: http://www.becharee.com/absite/test1.html Would maroon text look good? Do you think color text would improve the professionalism?

What about the fonts? What fonts do you like and suggest as the text? I have heard Arial, etc... What would you suggest and would call professional, but easy to read.

Thanks for your time.

Really, it all depends on how you design a site. I myself tend to lean towards smaller black Verdana/Tacoma print.

But, it's anybody's guess. Of course, I'll stray from that if the situation calls for it.

On that particulr web site, I would just leave like it is--even though Times is kind of bland.

I agree, on that web site I would leave the text/font as is. Black is a standard color on professional pages, you will probably notice not very many big companies use a color other than black. The font I saw was Arial, did you see times, Mike?

Anyway, the Arial font looks good for that site, normally I try to stay away from "Times New Roman" as much as possible, as I find sans-serif fonts like Arial/Verdana to be easier on the eyes Smiling

You don't think it will add more professionalism to the site? That's it, every site is black, this would make it kinda unique, don't you think?

Adding color to the text would probably make it more unique - but I honestly think that it would make it less professional not more.

For text type black is the best. Serif fonts do not work well on computer screens as the resolution is not high (72ppi) enough to make it comfortable on the eye unless the type is rather large. I've read many places that blue type strains the eyes. If you must use colored text use a very dark color agains a very light background. If you use two colors with similar values the legiblity will decrease and eye strain will increase.

Serif fonts are better for printed pages where the resolution is more like 150 dpi or better.

it really a matter of what looks good works.

However blue and orange is not a good idea as the spectrum variations makes it particularly hard to read.
