Flash and web links
Hi, I have a complete flash menu but when adding the links it does not work. I have been following the Macromedia Flash tutorial on how to get the links working,, but I keep getting errors. Can someone help me with this?

What code are you using to create the links? If you post your flash file I might be able to help you tomorrow (don't have Flash installed here).
BTW, are you aware that search engines have trouble following flash links? Just making sure

Megan,
Just want to inform you that search engines are now able to read flash links also. Please check - bizarredesigns.com. This is complete flash intro. Please check the cached text in google of this page and you will be surprised to see that Google is reading the flash links as text links..
Thanks

I didn't say they can't, I said "have trouble." I don't see any flash links on that site - can you point out where they are? When I view the cached text version it doesn't show the flash part at all.
I wouldn't be surprised if they start learning to read more flash in the future. That would be unfortunate, in many ways. Removes the one logical reason not to do annoying stuff with flash (other than that it's annoying).
This topic needs to be moved to a new place...

I totally agree with Megan on this one, I despise flash in most of its common uses.
I think flash is best left for banner, and other, ads where you need to use it to achieve a desired affect.
Many corperate companys put it into practice well where they want to interact with the viewer in some form.

Notice he didn't reply? Why, because hes posting links that download the "downloader" virus to your computer. Drive by.
Ban this guy. And scan your PC for this location, then delete everything in it.

Here's a reference from G. webmaster guidelines:

Basically, they can follow flash links but go on to explain that crawlers may "experience problems" indexing flash. I also don't know how Yahoo, MSN, and the others handle flash. You wouldn't want to miss out on any traffic from them just because you're using Flash.
But, for all we know stealthiss is doing as Google recommends and providing a text alternative
