Expandable Flash Banner & Page With Tables
I have an issue (actually not me but an IT guy I sent the banner to) with a flash banner being inserted in a web page with tables.
The banner size is 450 x 80 expandable to 350 in height with mouse over. I am not a coder so I didn't write the action script for the banner, I just did the translation and minor changes to the design.
Now the guy has a problem that when he inserts the banner into a table with specified size (450x80), the banner displays shrinks down to 80 px. Also he tried specifing bigger size so it fits into the table, the banner displays expanded to full size (as it woud be on mouse over).
As I am not a coder of any kind , I am just a designer, I don't know how to help him (I tried to contact the guys that wrote the banner but I don't speak their language so that can take a long time and I don't have much left), I am hoping someone can guide me in to the right direction on where the problem might be so I can at least know what to do next or tell the guy what to do.
Here is the link of the page with the problem (it's the second banner on the left below the main photo module):

And here is the banner as it should be:

Thank you all in advance..

I attached a file with the banner at full width - by changing the height of the embed tags to 350 -
not sure if this is on the road to what you want
I lost my patience increasing the size of the table element(s) to 350px high, left that 4 u
I tried using overflow:hidden and onmousover events and got frustrated too. I would use two swfs - one for the default and one for the expanded view - then you can display the 80px high version without expanding the table until mousover - ie swap the src of the flash object onmousover to the big one and onmouseout back to the small one.

Thank you for your help. I have sent my guy the files and at least what we found out is that the banners code is not written to be displayed in a web page with tables. So I'm off to make a new one that will work.
Thank you again for the help and your time.

You should try to use a creation kit provided by your ad-serving agency or with a kit like this one if you need to manage the code in the html by yourself : Expand Banner

This site gives you everything you need to create your own expandable banners in any dimension.
www.expandablebanners.com
You do not need a big advertising company to serve the banners, you can host all files on your website.
You can customize the dimensions. (Horizontal, Verticle, Square, Peel, Fullscreen)
They use a combination of Flash, Javascript and CSS/DHTML
They are compatible with IE, Firefox, Safari, Opera for both PC & Mac)
You can set a timer to open or close.
You can set how many times the banner opens.
These banners overlap content, not to be confused with pushing content down.
You will need to create 2 different banners, one in the original size and another in the larger expanded format.
Can be integrated into your existing websites or inserted into a banner tracking/rotating system (such as Xigla.com)
The scripts are throughly commented and easy to understand
How They work.
When you Rollover or Click the banner whichever you choose, a new DHTML Layer appears with the new expanded banner showing. When you Rolloff or Click a close button, the DHTML layer disappears and reveals the original banner. You may also set a timer allowing time for a smooth Closing Transition.
