downloading bitmaps - problem in Netscape

I have posted some grayscale bitmaps to be downloaded from a website by right-clicking, saved to the user's hard drive and opened in PhotoShop. It works fine in IE but when using Netscape (3.0 and 4.7) the color changes from grayscale to turquoise. It's extremely important that the color be true. Any idea of what the problem is? The page is located at http://www.photon-vision.com/bitmap.htm. Thanks!

Hi, try making each of these files a zip file . To do this you can download winzip at http://www.winzip.com . This should work fine, as bitmaps were not intended to be uploaded for the Internet. Also, why not just put the original PSD files in the zips you will be creating instead of bitmaps? I don't think bitmaps allow multiple layers, while PSD's do.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it -- but once the file has been zipped and loaded to the web server, and then downloaded and unzipped, Photoshop gives me an error saying it is not a valid bmp file. There is another issue here, and that is that the digital sensor chip that this company is developing outputs in bmp, and the company wants potential clients to see the original bitmap file as it was output directly from the chip, not compressed or changed in any way. IE seems to download in binary format (which keeps the bitmap file intact), and it appears that Netscape is downloading files in ascii (which corrupts the bitmap). Do you know of any menu option that allows you to change the Netscape default to binary instead of ascii? Thanks. Appreciate any help you can offer. SR

Well, first make sure you're uploading to the server in BINARY... Also I don't know if this will help but make sure you specify
"image/bmp bmp"
in your mime types for the server. The zip file should work if uploaded in binary...

Good luck!
