Heh, I've been meaning to do this for a long time. It's a new layout for my site I might use called Calcium. Check it out over here: http://www.logsdon.org/james/atv4/template2.html . I've asked one person and he said it was unique, but I want more than just one person to give me comments. Anything, harsh or good, is accepted Smiling

It's unique alright
It is kind of plain, but so is calcium Smiling
I can't read "Helping the body to function" on the top image, which is slow to load.

Yeah, it is unique. I don't know what you could do to improve it (not that it's bad), except-

One very important property of Calcium is it's highly reactive. It fizzes and bubbles like crazy in water... I don't think you've entirely captured that "effervescence".

I think if you introduced light and highly unsaturated blue tones here and there, it could help, but don't overdo it. Smiling

Too bland IMO, definitely needs some colour and more of a jointed layout as at the moment it's a bit disjointed with just a box here and one there.... Colour would help bring it all together I think along with easier to read text.

Julia - if life was meant to be easy Michael Angelo would have painted the floor....

But colour isn't the point, right? The point is for it to be white, and I don't think there's a problem with that if it's done right.

I think you've got a good start here but the design could still use some work. I think that the header graphic is too grainy/blurry. Something needs to be done to make that more interesting. When I do a google image search I come up with a some interesting scientific images - maybe you could integrate something like that.

The whole page should be balanced out more in terms of texture - the header graphic is very blurry yet the content areas are very sharp. Something should be done to balance that out. I also think that it's too squished in the top corner of the screen. It needs to be spread out somehow.

The second photo on the this page is calcium deposits in a cave:

Here are some (really cool looking) calcium carbonate crystals:

The bottom image on this page came up:

But it's not in english so I don't know what that is exactly

Here's another one with crystals:

Maybe you could make the whole thing a little blue-ish ike those crystals are (but not too blue-ish, of course). Sort of like how old ladies get blue hair, you know? It'll make the white look more crisp and bright rather than dull grey.

Thanks for your help! I was thinking of taking a picture of a Calcium Pill or something and integrating it with the logo somehow, but now that I have some pics of Calcium (Thanks Meagan!) I have more of an idea of how they look. I'll sharpen up the logo (Probably remake it, more of a Calcium look to it). As for the color deal, I'll try it with a slight blue additive, and then do it without it so you can compare. I'll probably do this tomorrow... err.. today, but alot later. Sleep Smiling Again, thanks Smiling
