Anyone running Opera or Firefox?

I'm trying to layout a bottom-aligned, 100% width page across all browsers..

Did you see the bottom left, center background, and right of the page? What browser / os are you on?

Thanks in advance guys.

I'm going to assume you were talking about the website you linked us to. I am using FireFox on windows XP, and the page appears to have a lake background image with trees on both sides of the lake. Text/Links appear to be in the middle vertically aligned to the top.

In opera the body margins aren't at zero and your contact form (would anyone find that?) is an actual form with border around name, email, subject and vertical scoll bar for the massage option

I still don't have firefox, but in firebird is all fine

Thanks.. Some people were getting gaps in the images / background of 1px but just in some versions of Opera so far. That contact form is just me messing around with forms and code at the moment. I'm working on using a COM object to send ICQ messages or email depending on my online status. If people don't find the form thats fine .. I'm not looking for business or tons of spam at the moment so its cool.

I am seeing gaps in Opera 7 but only at higher resolutions. When I resize my browser window I can make it small enough that the gaps disappear.

see that must be a x-fixed background problem with the css.. back to the drawing boards.. Thanks!

ouch those gaps are bad .. plus I didnt know Opera didnt support the css attributes I applied to the form inputs - I've got to do some research and get Opera to do some testing! lol thanks everyone

Opera is a good browser but every version seems to treat CSS differently, latest one seems to be most stable

Works fine in Firefox. I like the image at the bottom and the way you've solved the window size issue, though I think you could have done it in CSS as well. Wink

Thanks! but umm.. it is done with CSS (well about 90% - still had to use td attributes to get the full effect) - but I've got a stylesheet running it. Do you mean transfer ALL of it to css?

sorry, that WAS vague of me. I meant the background image effect. It's really moot, though, since either way you have "meaningless" elements that just hold design elements, eh? I think it's beautiful. Smiling Now to make that text in the middle match the beauty of the page! heh.

ohhh good point. There is alot of backend activity going on in the page, pulling all the information from an SQL database. So I'm always playing with it, almost as much as the design elements.. it just makes it quicker to change when the itch arises lol.

any suggestions? Wink

I'd like to see icons or some other form of order. A chart of lists isn't particularly compelling to look at.

I don't know that I care if its compelling to look at .. they are all just links. I'd rather have a list of compelling work to look at Wink

Listen - This isnt for profit, or for trying to fool users into my work with flashy text layouts. I dont even display an email address.. So if your not "compelled" enough to click a link, and are too distracted by my use of images.. then I guess you missed the point anyways.

If the links aren't compelling, how are you going to get people to click on them? <-- serious

You need to lead your users to where you want them to be. I look at the main page, play with the pretty picture by resizing my window a bunch and then go away. I can't even recall anything about the links other than they were a golden colour. I certainly didn't take away any knowledge of the site, the owner, the designer, or the content.

Isn't that a problem?
