I wanted to share a resource which has helped me create what I believe are much cleaner and effective sites.

Most books on the topic of web design have titles similar to 'Designing Websites,' or some variation thereof. They show you how to create nav bars and rollovers. 'The Design of Sites,' turns the topic around and illustrates proper design by citing examples of successful, proven designs. The authors concentrate on showing what makes a good website, not from the bells and whistles angle, but from how well the site enables the visitors to do what you want them to.

From the back cover...
"Creating a Web site is easy. Creating a well-crafted Web site that provides a winning experience for your audience and that enhances your profitability is another matter. It takes research, skill, experience, and careful thought to build a site that maximizes retention and repeat visits."

I have found this book so useful, I had to share my opinion of it, and I'd love to hear from anyone else who's read this book!
