Is it good to have links bold on hover in a site? I have seen some site who have done this i.e opera.com personally, i don't like it, because it can mess up the layout of the page, :S what are your thoughts?

I too hate it as it generally makes the page jump about!

It's ok, IMO, if the link is in, say, a navbar or something, where turning bold doesn't shuffle around things. But for "inline" links in body text and such, emboldening can displace it... which is a great irritation.

Oh OK, I just see it sometimes and it really irritates me how they just "jump" out onto the page, so I finally decided to ask if it was "good" or not to do that.

It's all a fad, this month is bold on hover, last month was different background on hover (real cheezey), next month could be overline on hover (if it was compatiable on all - its not) everything has its time in the spot light, gets abused (look at flash or frames), fades away to be replaced by something else.

Another reason to keep using NS4.7, cause most of these "fads" don't work on it Laughing out loud

Last month was different background? Damn, I did that three years ago... Wink Oh, the fun of being an early adopter.

Bold on hover is perfectly wonderful if you bold your links in the first place. ha!

haha yeah Susanne Laughing out loud I always prefer my bold my links, then underline (or over if it calls for it) as for the "bold phase" I sure hope it passess soon cause I find it quite annoying "inline"
