A bit of inspiration

Hi guys,

I'm in need of some inspiration for a logo design for this website. How do you drum up ideas for graphic design like this? I've never really been able to do it? Perhaps some modifications of the existing logo would be good but I dunno, maybe it deserves a fresh approach.

Many thanks

Rob

How about two golf clubs bent into a G and a P with the caption no1GolfPro below it

or the bent clubs G P and #1 on a golf ball

I like the idea of the classic "golf shield" and then just a title below it.

The idea of bent golf clubs is intriguing me but I'm not too sure how I'd go about doing it? Would it be that I draw the clubs or would it be possible to bend "photos" of clubs? I use Fireworks, if that's any help!!!

The golf shield is another good idea too. I'll have to go away and have a think!

Honestly, if they want a good logo they should hire a logo designer. There are so many fine details that go into communicating a whole business concept with such a small piece of artwork.

I think it would be good to use a piece of clipart or something. I dont' tend to visit golf sites but I imagine the clubs thing has been done, a lot! What about a bag of clubs or a tee? I'm looking at one of the clipart sites my office subscribes to and I can see some good ideas here (we subscribe to arttoday.com). There's one with a jaunty looking guy with a cheesy outfit on holging a club with his other finger in the area (like a #1 sign - particularly appropriate for this site).

I would like to explain my suggestion in words, but i guess its best if I illustrate it...

Not bad demonhale, but that would not transfer to print very well. A logo needs to:

1) Be scabable so it can be used in a variety of print and screen media
2) Be able to go to print without issues
3) Be able to print well in black in white as well as color

Roo, I assume with #3 that greyscale is okay.

Personally, I like your idea, demonhale. Roo is definitely right about his points. If he literally meant black and white on #3, he and I might disagree slightly, but he's correct.

The same idea might still work if you take off the text, then simply make the sky solid blue, the ground solid green, the ball solid white and the hole solid black. I'm on a computer without a good graphics program, or I'd throw something together to see how it looks. But I think that might look okay.

It would be good to have a hill in the background rather than a straight line. Golf courses are always hilly. I do like the font that demonhale chose, although I think the text should be altered so it reads like No. 1 Golf Pro or even No1GolfPro rather than no1golfpro. Using different colours or spacing can be used to distinguish words

Rob,

How about a tee with a wide circular arch starting from it, with the golf ball at the end shooting off as if just being hit, and in the center of the arch the business name.

Like a semi circle with a golf ball at one end and a tee at the other, give the golf ball some motion lines...

Oh bugger, by the time I explain it, its just easier to do it..

That was just an idea anyway, I'll make some graphics that ya'll suggested when I go back to the city... I'm currently in a mountain escapade, im using my ppc to browse, so kinda difficult also to communicate... Laughing out loud

I was confused with the black & White printing, I didn't know printers DO Print White... lol Sticking out tongue

Right, well I've kind of modified Stu's design slightly - now you can tell me where I've gone wrong! Laughing out loud

It's pretty much Stu's design...I even managed to find the same ball as his...and the same tee! Google Images is a wonderful thing! hehe...

need to tidy up the tee and the ball else I recon its effective, and yes the google images are a great thing provided you only use a part of the image not the whole thing and nothing thats copyrighted.

The tee and the ball are blurred using a motion blur - they're done like that on purpose! Or are you saying that you think it would look better if it wasn't blurred?

Anyone else got any ideas on this guys?
