.asf
Here it is. I am looking on some sort of web site or someone to help me with troubleshooting videos that have been taken from uncompressed .avi format and then compressed through Media Cleaner to get a final .asf file. The question i have is, Is there any way i can get the files to stream over the net with out preloading for one minute? The file that i am testing is 279kb so it should buffer and play? but it buffered for 1 full minute and then played a chunk and the finished playing. Any help with this would be much appreciated.
thanks

ASF stands for Advanced Streaming Format. You’ve got the right format. Microsoft has extensive documentation on NetShow and Media Player at MSDN. Take a look at the following sites and read over the basic tutorials. You may also try searching for ASF authoring.

A one-minute delay for a video is not terrible. Do you have an example on-line? I’d be quicker to blame the coding of the player or the HTTP server, however it could be the compression. What program did you use to create the ASF? Also, are you using a NetShow server or HTTP?
Good luck,

Thanks Adam, I had already hit those links before i posted here. I used Media Cleaner to compress the .asf. Here is what i have. I have shockwave that is calling frames with the movies embedded in them. I know the web guy coded it in is .asp, and when it comes to .asp i am lost. So do you think it could be the coding side of it, we don't have a .asx file to launch the .asf could that be the problem?
thanks Johnny
