I put up a site for review in the other forum yesterday and a few people have mentioned about my text graphics being quite fuzzy. I remember reading somewhere about just how to set anti aliasing on text in photoshop6, and the benefits of therein. Only problem is..... I DON'T KNOW HOW?!!!!

Is there some secret trick you photoshop guru's use to sharpen text and basically give your online graphics that professional touch? Any help will be gratefully accepted!
I mess around with photoshop but I feel sometimes that my images could be more professional...

here are two url's as examples...

1st site http://www.todaytech.net/golf/mcc/default.asp

2nd site (the one I like) http://www.todaytech.net/golf/mcc/new/default.htm

Both sites look fine to me... Anti-aliasing is turned on by default with a check box in the actual font entry box... the box that comes up when you type in some text.

I think they may have been referring to the menu on the first site- the text looks a little pixelated, because you saved it in jpeg format. With text, you usually want to save it in gif format, and use jpegs for pictures... text will become pixelated or fuzzy in jpegs unless the compression is set to very low, in which case the size of the file would be fairly large.

Good luck,

In PhotoShop 6 you can set the anti-aliasing in the top bar when you're editing your text. It has a small "a" next to it and the options are "none", "crisp", "strong", and "smooth". I usually set it to crisp or smooth for standard text.

Actually I don't think anti-aliasing has anything to do with the fuzzyness of the text in your case. You just need to save the images at a higher quality (10 in PS5, 12 in PS6).

He also has them saved has JPEG's which Brian already covered. Just figured it was worth noting how to use anti-aliasing since he asked Smiling

The best bet with PhotoShop is using the "save for the web" feature so you can preview different formats, color depths, and file sizes. Anti-aliasing does help, but file format and quality probably has more to do with it in your case Detox.
