3D website
Hi guys,
I stumbled on a website for some kind of 3D architectural modelling business, looks really cool - but no contact details put on the site! But what really took my mind away was that its FULLY 3D, I can even use my arrow keys to navigate like a game!
I'm not actually look for critique as it isn't my site! But I've never seen a site like this - so I thought I'd share it with all of you..check it out:

You can go to the gogofrog site to build your own 3D site if you like cuz it's free like hotmail, I'm in the middle of designing mine now - its like designing a room!

Hmmm, this is very worrying - I would explicitly discourage the use of Flash as a web site platform. It's not accessible - and generally not very useable - people prefer vanilla XHTML that's spiced-up using CSS not this resource hungry, "coolness."
As you pointed-out there are no contact details and the layout of the site will confuse the user, it's never a good idea to force people to relearn browsing every time they visit a different site, in my experience they would rather leave and find the product/service/information they are looking for somewhere else.
On a more positive note this would make a good presentational tool. Flash is a portable format and used properly is very useful, it's role in the arena of web design is still heavily debated, an argument that in my opinion is slowly being won by those against.

I agree that the usability isn't quite what it could be. There could be some fine print on there saying to use the arrows to navigate since a lot of people (like me) will probalby ignore the help at first. IMO, it's not flash that's making it unusable, it's just not designed as well as it could be.
I think this works well enough for the current application. It's a bit of a novelty tool and I think it would be better for an artists site or something like that. This could be attached to a more traditional website that would provide more detail about the business.
So, I disagree that flash has no use in developing websites. I think it has a lot of benefits in partnership with regular html pages. Flickr for example.

In addition to what has already been said before, I'd also appreciate it if, you left my window size the way I had it before visiting you site. In other words, don't resize my window.

I reckon the guys who made the application only wanted to be yeh, a novelty thing. I can't imagine seeing a e-Commerce company using this as their point of business!

Well the idea is good. I would say it is the personal website of 3D sites. It is bigenner stuff on a 3D level. Actually I'm working on a 3D site for a portfolio web site.

Wow is that using flash or..? That's something that looks like it came from 3DSMAX or Maya...
Has anyone created a website of their own..? Post em here! I'd love to see how it is (and so I can get some ideas of my own for my own website!)

I concede your point Megan, I think my post is somewhat derogatory toward Flash and it does have its uses.
It's easy to be derogatory to Flash though, but that's not because the idea itself is flawed it's due to the many poor implementations that are out there. Often it's used pointlessly where XHTML/CSS could have fulfilled the requirements better.

I, myself managed to make a cool (or what I think is cool anyway!) 3D gallery devoted to Honda, Nissan and Toyota models! Its using the same free online web development tool.
And if you do actually want to buy something off the site, you can't because obviously it's not a real shop! I just wanted to set up a shop front because I thought it'll look more interesting..
Anyway, on with the show - I hope you like my gallery! It's at:

Call me old fashion but for some reason I dont think GregTaylor should be 'congradulated' for something someone else created. I think credit for his pictures should be enough.
3D sites my be the future but not untill comper standerds go up quite a bit. As of right now that site would not work or sevearly slow down 6 of 10 computers. Or more!
If you think those Doom 2 graphics are impressive. Wait till you see the site I'm working on. I'm getting real cose to the final render.

All the websites created on the 'gogofrog' thingy is pretty similar I guess..they're all rooms where you walk in...I don't know who designed the aquarium one, but thanks for the compliment for my pics!!

That site is awesome. I don't know what's wrong with you people, but this is called progress. There are obviously a few flaws with ease of navigation and such, but what do you people know? Maybe in ten years the entire internet will just be a bunch of 3D flash rooms connected to each other. Far fetched? This is the freaking internet! Farfetched is what it's here for.
Congradulations man. this is the first truely creative website that I've seen on this forum.

Thanks Assassin! Most of you have probably also seen the Esuvee website out there...how ground-breaking is that also! Unbelieveable sometimes what these people come up with.
