Problem linking to a Database???

The company I work for just recentally upgraded all the PCs from Office97 to Office2000. There are dozens of Access databases stores on a server and within department pages are links to open thse databases. Since the 2000 upgrade when you click on a link to a Access2000 if you choose to save it works fine, but if you want to open from the current location it starts to open and then nothing happens?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Is this a known issue with Access2000, I can't seem to find any answers anywhere. Every other Office2000 Application opens the same as before?

Was anything upgraded on the servers? Maybe installing Access 2000 on the servers might fix the problem (it might be looking for some local file or something). Have all the databases been upgraded to Access 2000? (make a copy before you do this!)

I'm not sure what else to suggest, make sure the database isn't locked, permissions are ok, etc.

probably making sure that the access db's are all converted to 2000 format. Maybe the format dialogue cant open when the db is accessed outside of the program itself? Thus you get that hang time...
