OK. well, i have decided that being a good designer only gets you so far when making websites and that i really need to learn database/programming for the web. I am decided on php/mySQL as the way to go, and I am looking for tutorials and step-by-step training. any ideas? links? books? etc... i am looking for seriously basic beginner hand-holding stuff here. I am gonna double post this in the server side scripting forum so as to get both ends, so, don't get irriated when ya see thie post there too. =)

Much thanks!

Plenty of good ways to learn.

For books, I like : PHP and MySQL Web Development by Luke Welling and Laura Thompson.

For sites there are:
http://www.phpbuilder.com/
http://www.devshed.com/
http://www.codingclick.com/
http://www.programmertutorials.com/
http://www.weberdev.com/
http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/
http://www.zend.com/

Learn a little. Download some scripts and play around with them. You'll learn.

Please don't double post

I highly recommend Kevin Yank's introduction and tutorial to PHP and MySQL: http://sitepoint.com/books
