MySQL bugging
Ok for the longest time I didnt want to use DB in mysql personally... Thats why if I look for CMS, I specifically do not want it to have an SQL backend fo db...
Seems that after several years, sql tests I did didnt have problems, so as I mentioned here a while back in the forum, I continued with my test with my old install of wordpress, specifically WP 1.5.2 ... after several days all things are working mighty fine... I have several db in mysql at these times. early today I checked my panel and there are no dbs left in mysql... Well short-story is that either I was hacked, or the server updated PHP, apache or mysql itslef... No DB no Db backup, plainly I was in deep s**t...
So anybody here I must warn you, backup your db files immediately, and backup your site, it might be some issues but better safe than sorry, and mind you, today I cant even create new db users and DB's in mysql...
And if it was wordpress, then better you all to upgrade to 2.0.2... :blech:

In on your PC, If you have XP you can back date it, upload or send info to yourself then go back to present (or stay)
If on your host they should have a backup of it, even if old one
but yeah backups are good idea, just like saving your work as you go.

Backing up often is best practice for anything computerwise.
Let us know if you fid out what happened. Was this on a hosted server?

Yup, on a hosted server, although I frequently backup my files, the DB I usually forget (mostly ignore) since It was all for experiment, what really made me react is that maybe someone is trying to hack in (a little paranoid here) since I saw traces which might lead to something like this...
I asked the whole day the support and they seem to indicate on their site that other users experienced this a week before since there are some vulnerability issues with un-updated WP, mambo/joomla, phpbb and the likes... So I figured the only thing I frequent this week was a WP install I made long ago which I tried to experiment again these days...
The new release is WP 2.0.2, I didnt want to upgrade from 1.5.2, since im a little lazy and hectic... I looked for traces and I had an increased hit just the day before it all happened... specifically on that page, so I figure its an attack or theres some vulnerability. Also I looked into what my hosting said and maybe their whole system was being hacked, so I asked them to reinstall, and their previous backup so that all user databases will be restored... Then upgrade to a new mysql and php...
Everything is dandy now...
