Mass Email from list of useres in sql

Hey,

Does anyone know how i would go about mass emailing people, I have a list of emails in a database( 10000 email's roughly ) and i need to send something to each and every one of them. any ideas on how i could do this?

ie: a script that uses the mail() function to send to 500 at a time maby?

Reason for this is my forums got hacked and we have decided not to reopen them. We just want to let the members know whats going on and give the address of another of our boards.
