FileMaker Pro DB online

My dad is a FileMaker expert but has never created one for online purposes. Recently he created a DB for our HOG chapter and we would like to get it online for all officers to access. Does anyone have any experience with FileMaker and their online DB? Do we have to have FileMaker installed on the server itself?

What exactly is Filemaker Pro, i've never heard of it.
