Problem with Auto Subscribe

I had to refrain using gmail, last january a bunch of my correspondence didn't get through and it cost me some problem... I also tried sending some mail from my other accounts to gmail and gmail didn't receive it at all... I hope theres no connection here with a gmail problem....

Just as a side note, I've gotten 3 emails on thread updates in the last three days...all 3 were today. But I still should have gotten more than 3. So at least some are getting through...

Any word? I've gotten a few emails here and there, but I'm still not receiving a large portion of the updates.

It seems to be working fine for me. I'm not exactly keeping track of every post that comes after mine so I can't guarantee that I'm not missing any. I'll check that agian but I think it's okay.

My suspicion is that gmail could be holding some as spam, particularly since there are so many messages coming from the same server. Did you try contacting them at all?

Alright, I've been testing this for a few days and you're right - it's not always sending emails for every response. I'm finding that it will send one response for each thread but I'll only get an email for the first response after mine in some - but not all - cases. In some cases I did get an email for each response.

I'll check to see if there are any admin settings for this... otherwise I have no idea what would be causing the problem.

Do you mind testing this with me for a bit? There are a couple of relevant settings in the admin CP. The first one we're going to try is raising the cap on the number of emails to send in a batch. (emails are processed in batches to prvent bottlenecks) This was set to a really low number so I've increased it by a lot. Let's see if this helps.

If it doesn't we can turn off the batching altogether.

No, don't change anything. There is no option for batch anyway, it's just either instant, daily, or weekly. I was thinking that the server batch setting might have something do with why we're not getting all the notifications. Let's see if that's the case.

I think that's becuase you and I are continuously going back and forth. What seems to be happening is that I'm getting the email for the first post after mine but none after that. I'm not sure if this is how it's supposed to work or not. I'll continue to monitor it to see if I continue to get emails after I've visited the forums again...

Ok, well I know that I'm now getting more emails, alot more. I don't think it's all of them yet, however.

And what you said makes sense. But I know that's not what happened before when I was here, I got an email for every single post on a thread to which I was subscribed, unless I didn't read it for awhile...at that point I didn't get another email until I visited the thread again.

Yeah so I'm back to getting basically no emails at all.

It's not a Gmail problem, because they're not even showing up in SPAM or anything... when/how can this be fixed? It's pretty annoying because I can't easily follow up on my own comments.

I'll change one of the settings and see if that helps. Otherwise I'll have to get JeevesBond to look into it...

How is this going for you now, brady? It seems to be working much better for me. I'm assuming that the forum isn't supposed to send an email for every individual response to your post - you only get one for the first response until you visit the forum again. After that it will send an email for the next response after you've left.

Right. It's working better, but I'm still not getting all of the emails. By that I mean that yes, I am getting an email sometimes for the first reply after my last visit/reply, but sometimes not.

Let's give it another week so I can make sure it is or isn't working fully for me.
