New forum software & server

It is good to see that this forum has moved to a new server and is now running with vBulletin. I have had many problems with these forums in the past - mainly due to the server I think. I hope these changes will be an improvement and hope we do not experience hacks like before.

Just curious, how much does vBulleting cost? (if you dont mind me asking)

I believe you will find these forums much more secure as long as they can keep it on a dedicated server, otherwise it is sort of left up to the hosting co. security.

Are the forums now on a dedicated server? Last I heard they were on a server for "high resource" sites (about 12). Can anyone verify the dedicated server?

TWF is on a high-end server that only serves a couple of sites.

Werehere,
The security problems in the past were not server problems. They were a lack of carelessness on JP's part with his password.

Lloyd,
I am sorry to hear that you had problems but I am sure they were not server related. The server that TWF was on had an extremely good track record. There were some network problems at times but overall, everything you experienced was just the 'net overall.

That may be the case, but I am still stating that it is much more secure if it is on a dedicated server, and that is really true in most cases. Also Vbulletin is more secure than the old software as far as I can tell!

Werehere,

You are correct in both of your statements... I was just stating that the security problems in the past were not our fault, as I felt you implied. I just wanted to clear that up.
