hack suggestion

I just finished reading Justins post here., and I got an idea...

First off, you need to enable anyone to post. [IMHO, a person shouldn't have to register to post a thread for help.]

Second, someone will need to write a hack that will enable you to:
Set a quota for posts per month/year (or whatever). If the person doesn't make the quota the first time, you issue a notice. If they don't make the quota the second time, you delete their account.

This would keep people from holding a username that is inactive. [such as people passing through] And would give you a better idea of how many real ACTIVE users there are on the forum.

depending on the programmer, you could get some really neat tools to monitor user activity.
-If a user is going to be 'absent' for a length of time, they could contact the admin team and get a 'pardon'. [preventing their account from being deleted].
-Your 'Top Posters' could be as up-to-date as you want [hour/day/week/month]

I'm going to stop now...

Sounds great. It'll never get done around here, but it sounds great Smiling

I like the idea about deleting accounts that are not active...

But, I don't like the idea about not making people register to post. While this may influence the post count, it reduced privacy levels and makes it hard to track the number of users and what not.

More suggestions:

1. Enable the tags! - Haven't you all noticed the tags showing up when they shouldn't when you use quotes?

2. Still broken images!... on the post page...

3. Bring back the private TWF forum - Could become useful for us moderators to discuss things.

I agree with Justin. That's a great idea, but as said it will probably never get done around here.

If it were written, might it be implemented?

The [i] tag was disabled long ago. I believe JP did that because it was screwing up the HTML forum or something. But I agree, it should be reinstated.

Another issue is the design. It desperately needs to be completed! JP?

Finally, I also agree about the Private TWF Forum. It would really help...

Probably...
