Getting there!
I know everyone has been wondering if I feel off the face of the Earth or something... I didn't.
On Saturday night, I upgraded to vb 1.1.5 and put the links back up top. I also added the "more than one page" links at the bottom of long threads, though they look a bit screwy.
Justin is supposed to be working on a new design for TWF and as soon as he gets something put together, I will be moving it over and getting everything fixed for once and all.
As far as some improvements and changes that we plan:
We plan to implement a member banner system. The moderators have been discussing and all feel it is a great idea. It is going to be based on your number of posts, along with a quality rating. At this time, I don't really have the specifics but I would love to hear what members have to say, good or bad about it.
I also plan to implement a weekly poll... Just something fun. Not always related to Webmaster issues - just something to get participation and get an idea of what TWF members do in life and how they live their life (yes, I'm worried )
So, here is a new thread to throw out your comments on these couple of improvements, as well as any other suggestions. Please understand when making comments that I don't plan to make further changes to the site (unless they are really needed) until we have a new design up.

You put the links back up top? There are more links than that!
Sorry guys, but I just haven't been able to find the time lately. I've been working on my own companies sites, as well as a couple paying client sites. Sorry
I hope TWF can get back to what it was.

I noticed the upgrade and the links. I've been busy working on my site too, so I haven't had the time to whip up a design for here, even though it probably wouldn't be very good anyways.

Well, now that Justin has stated he isn't able to work on TWF, someone needs to take charge and get a design done. Personally, I'm not a designer, nor do I have the time for it, so you can eliminate me.

Does anyone have good examples of what you have in mind? I feel really dumb saying this, but I really don't see why the lack of "design" is such a huge problem. Well, at least I myself never noticed any kind of problems after the links disappeared.
I could try to put something together - are we keeping the current header or no? Can someone post a list of links that we'll need to have? I never really looked at all the ones that used to be there.
Megan

We need one for Members, Search, Profile, Logout, Register, FAQ, and some others. Can't remember off the top of my head.
Chad,
You need to put the login back at the bottom of the page so people can login. If I get logged out the only way I can log back in is by posting.

Can we please change back to the DEFAULT templates? It's easy, I could do it in 5 minutes if you needed me to..
Ever since we changed the templates not as many people have been posting.

Matt,
Why do you want the default templates? They aren't needed! At this point in time, we are not missing anything that they have.
Someone is working on a design for us and as soon as that is complete, I will be converting everything over.

yeah I think going back to the default templates wouldn't help anything.
I see the links are back up, that's pretty good. I think it'll be hard for TWF to make it back up to where it was. I just don't find alot of users referring people here. I notice people referring to Site Point / Geekvillage / GetHighForums.
I hope we can get it back up there though to a place where you can get answers quick in all forums.

Yeah, as soon as we get a new design out, I'm gonna see what I can do to get things back to the way they were before JP started letting things go.
We'll get there.

Actually there are a lot of things left now that aren't in the default templates.
I'm not trying to be mean, rude or nasty but I really think that it would help TWF a lot.

We won't know if going back to the default templates or not will work unless we try it. If we're lucky, it could have super positive affects. Don't know what I'm talking about? Take a look at my boards (see signature) - they use the basic templates, except we've obviously changed the header, footer, and colors. It would help a lot...

You guys say "it would help" but please explain how... what are we missing that we would gain from the default templates!?
I have looked over vbulletin's own bulletin board which uses the default templates almost to a tee (with design changes) and the only thing I see different is that they have board stats (newest member, number of posts, etc) which isn't a huge deal in my own eyes.
