Forum Upgrades
This evening, the forums were shut down for approximately 30 minutes minutes while I upgraded the board to vB 2.2.1. Some problems behind the scenes with the upgrade (which didn't affect the operation of the forums for users) caused this upgrade to take longer than it should have so I did not have a chance to finish the upgrades that I had planned.
I will be working on the forums again tomorrow night to finish my planned upgrades. If the forums look a bit weird or are temporarily unavailable, please just check back a bit later and they should be back to normal (with some changes).
I plan to revert all of the templates to the default templates which should bring front support for some new options that are now available in the software. By doing this, I have to recreate the styles for the forums and recreate some hacks that we have made to the software which takes time. I will also be creating some additional buttons to enhance the design which has been requested for some time now.
After these changes, I plan to take on some of the other requests that have been made during the last 12 months or so in hopes of getting TWF up-to-paar with what I would like it to be... This should all take place during January and possibly into February, depending on my personal life.
I appreciate your patience in waiting for a lot of these upgrades. I know some of them are needed badly while others are just requests that could be done with or without.

Seems a lot faster now
You have a personal life?, hmmm maybe I should try one of them, I wonder if there is a web site for them
Yep, personallife (.com.net.org) is a site but its under construction, guess I'll have to wait some

Sounds like the author is playing with one too... I wonder where they get these things.

Can you get them on a trial basis and change it for another one if you don't like it or get your money back?

About time, good to see this upgrade.
I will be glad to send you any recommendations/suggestions I notice as changes are being made. One thing I'm not liking too much are the online/offline indicators in the postbit template, Chad - might want to move those. What I do is use just plan text and put it under the user's posts, location, etc. on the left.

I like text online/offline also... so I changed it.

Looks good. Hmm, but it would look great if you differentiate the online from offline. Perhaps italics and a different color (TWF red?) for online?

Looks good. Now, find some better graphics for the images in the postbit template.

i like the indicator too. and the new, brighter smilies. but since the update (i think so), i have to re-login every time i close my browser (opera6.0). may something be wrong the cookies?

Make sure "enable cookies" is checked in your options.

Immediately I do not like that big box at the top. It's taking up too much space. Change it back!

I am not particulary fond of the big box either. Just something else that you have to wait for. And it puts the content that I came here for below the FOLD.
(LOL I used a big word *fold*. na na na na boo boo)

I don't like it either, far too big and imposing! Kinda buries the forums.

I totally agree... we went overboard with all the stuff at the top. I like the Welcome Panel, but move the PM and logged in users stuff back to the bottom. Additionally, I don't think the TWF statistics need their own section... just put that data above the Welcome Panel, i.e. how I have it on my boards.

I'm finding that sometimes IP addresses are showing and other times not. Can it be not all the time?

I believe that the IPs are only showing where you have permissions to see them. I'm an admin, so I see them everywhere. Being a moderator, I would guess that you only see them in the forums you moderate.

Mark has it 100% correct with the IP address thing...
When I was looking over at vb.org (awsome site, thanks Mark for the pointer!), I noticed the hack that would just remove the IP: Logged altogether for people that are not members of the administrative team. I'm sure the IP addresses really aren't used but I want them recorded just in case we need them...

BTW, if you go to http://www.vbulletin.org you'll see Chad's name on the home page. Apparently, he's the 5,000th member. They even posted a link to TWF. Woohoo!

ROFL!
That is too cool! I registered a couple nights ago to get a few hacks when it came back, I just happened to notice that I was member # 5000. I thought to myself "that's cool... I should get a prize or something" and went on surfing their forums. I had no idea they were going to announce it.
Those forums are absolutely amazing. There are so many great hacks from some very talented people that also participate within our forums.
