Forum upgrade and server move THIS WEEK
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that we will be doing some major upgrades to the site over the next few days. We will first be upgrading to Drupal 6, which should happen TOMORROW (Tuesday, December 7th). The upgrade will allow us to implement some new features, beginning with some improved spam controls.
After that we will be moving the site to a new dedicated server. The new server will be much faster and should eliminate the temporary outages we have been experiencing. The server move should happen on Thursday.
We will need to close the site while both of these migrations are happening. We apologize for the inconvenience!

We are now upgraded to Drupal 6. You will probably notice a few things that aren't working or aren't displaying properly. We're still working on it, but we wanted to get the site open as soon as possible.
Let us know if you notice anything that needs fixing!

I'll be doing the server move in a few hours too. It's all go!
Sorry to anyone who's been getting Access denied errors viewing some posts, been having trouble rebuilding Drupal's permissions. Am working on fixing it though, so hold tight.

This box I'm typing in now needs sorting out, it's too wide and the text is too small.
By the way, does the server feel faster to any of you?
EDIT: and the 'Post new forum topic' isn't appearing on the front page for most people.
Musn't forget to setup cron jobs again
Find out why text is varying so much across browsers

The issue with the slow connect time to the server seems way better (at least for me). The only long load is things that have to do with loading up things (such as hitting TRACK for a user).
For me though, the faster connection to the server itself makes it way better!

The preview feature seems to be MIA - all I get back is the textarea input, which conveys nothing beyond what I typed.
I also find the submit buttons confusing. The one to submit a comment is called "save" and is next to the file attachment input. I was convinced "save" meant save the attachment until I could find no "submit" or "publish"...

We're aware of the issue with the preview. Weird server bug. We're working on that one.
Thanks for pointing out the confusion with the save button. I'll see what we can do about that.

Fixed the comment preview bug. That was a difficult one.
Also added some margin above ‘Save’ and ‘Preview’ so they no longer appear part of the upload box. Hopefully they're not too far below it now though.
