hi,

that is exaclty what I was interested in some time ago, too.

Can you post some data on the inital start off ?
Maybe some stats about users/posts/views for the first month ?

OK guys, the stats might be a bit tricky as I had no real stats when with Communitech. Sad

However I can say that the rate at which the pageviews increase is relatively lower than when TWF had about 200 members, thus we can assume that people are, on average viewing less pages each. This is not necessarily the case though due to many possible variables...

jp is the traffic picking up in proportion to members (750+/-) or is the law of negative returns kicking in (less page views per member compared to when you had around 100 members)? just wondering, i remember there was a nice size discussion about this when the board was around 100.

great job by the way Smiling

Thanks.

At least one question is answered.

Do you still know when the forums were initially started ?
And when they were split off ?

this might help out a little:
the domain www.webmaster-forums.com was launched at 24th of April, 1999.
TWF was there before, but I am afraid only JP knows how long Smiling

As far as I remember the first version of the forums (then titled the 'Queries Forums') went live on the 1st of Jabuary 1999. I then improved on the idea a few months later and renamed the project the Webmaster Forums.

JP,

I just noticed that the domain webmasterforums.com points to a site of a guy who used to post here, or maybe still does.

Somebody obviously tries to profit from the popularity of this forum.

What are your feelings about that?

Is there gonna be something special for the 1000th member?
(If so I'd register again right in time under another name Smiling )

Later,

Malte

The domain record says that it was created on 30-Dec-98. Wouldn't that place it before TWF?

Yep, webmasterforums.com was indeed registered before webmaster-forums.com (or I would have bagged both names).

I was talking about this with Pat and to avoid people registering to be number 1000 I will likely just pick out a random (active) member and award a (not sure what yet) prize.

In fact would anyone be interested in sponsoring a prize Smiling you would recieve coverage on TWF of course.
Contact me by email.
**edit: I have received one response to this but am still welcoming other offers.**
Thanks all

I posted yesterday but JP got mad (jokingly, of course). I decided to repost today. I just posted a Smiling after JP's "hmmm, how about free hosting for a year? Smiling Hint Hint" ... I am happy to say that Dynamic Internet Solutions will be providing a full year of free hosting to the winner (a Virtual Solution One account).

I think it would be great if JP could get several different prizes and give them out in different categories or something.
