Sounds good, JP. The list should encourage users to post more frequently. Well done!

As some of you know I will shortly be moving to a new host (probably DIS). This will mean a lot of changes affecting TWF will shortly follow. Some of these will be:
- a list of websites belonging to the most valued forum members, those who often help others. This list will be by invitation only and will be highly promoted throughout the forums.
- As suggested by Malte, a voting station will be set up to allow you to vote for your favourite hosts etc.
- I will upgrade to the new version of BT which included search.
- I will also do a fair bit of editing to the BT template so that it can cope with the higher number of users.
Any more suggestions anyone?
Thanks all and I hope you had a great weekend!
JP

Why not give every member the ability to start a poll the same way they can start a discussion?
I'm pretty sure Joseph could realize that

JP,
Sounds great... just out of curiousity, would the list be changed over time for those that BECOME more valued? Not all of us have been around long enough to be that valued yet... lol
Matt
PS. There is a new verion of BT coming out? I will likely be getting a copy for my site in about a month... my only question is whether the Unix or NT version would be better... (I have access to both on my new webhost).

Hi,
I like the list of new features
But when moving keep in mind that the forums themselves are the essence of this "site".
So please first move the forums, make them work and then integrate new features.
But you would have done it anyway ... wouldn't you ?
ciao

Over the past couple of days, I have been personally working with JP to get BT working on our servers. We have been using the latest version (v3.402 beta). Needless to say, everything worked but the mail functions, like with the CT servers. I knew that sendmail worked on our servers because we use it on a daily basis. So, we decided to tear into the BT coding.
I got with Patrick and between the two of us, we fixed the e-mail notification problems as well as the edit problems. Joseph has been telling JP for quite some time that the problem was with sendmail on the hosts server... It is not. Both of these problems were with the scripting of BT itself. I am not sure as to why Joseph was not able to fix this problem.
My knowledge as of now is that JP will be moving the entire WebCurrents network to our servers (this includes TWF) shortly (within the next couple of days). We are welcoming JP with open arms! You should see quite an improvement with TWF as these problems will be fixed and it will be upgraded to the latest version.
<edit>
By popular demand, I have been asked to edit my post I was one of the lucky individuals that could not edit my posts without asking someone (eventually JP gave up and gave me his username/password to edit with). If this works, the whole edit problem is fixed, thanks to Patrick! Way to go Patrick!

Indeed everything will work fine when TWF is finally hosted at dids.
but i have to correct you here chad! we have indeed tried to fix it together, but you alone found the bug and fixed it! so all credits should go to you about this
but i am very happy to say that we finally got rid of that edit-problem, too! it was actually just one single line missing in the current version TWF uses. i only wonder why Joseph never found the time to tell JP how to fix this major bug....
Joseph, may i ask you why?
but back to topic: i tried the new software on the new host and can say everything is running very fine there, so we all will be looking forward to our 'new' and better board 'The Webmaster Forums'!
applause to JP for the great work on this board, polpus for the new feature he added and chad for fixing the email-bug!

The details of this list/directory are still sketchy. I'm still thinking about it. My first priority is to find a better method to promote forum moderators sites...
Matt: head over to BigTalker.com for more info on upcoming releases and OS compatabiliy.
Anti: I will try and make the host crossover as smooth as possible.

Hmm... Will my site be in the list yet? If so, I think it's a great idea!
