Banner adds at top of page
okay, when did that happen? I remember a thread a while back asking why there was a big grey bar at the top of each page, and someone said it was for future banner adds... but when did they go up, am i right in thinking that they are peoples sites who post on the boards. do we pay to get up there or is it moderator privelage?
If it is free to members I think its a really cool idea

I believe Chad said he'd make an announcement on September 1, 2001.
Currently, you are seeing banners from moderators.

I believe a system will be implemented where active members can get their banners up there, too. By staying active, starting new threads, etc., it could pay off!

Both Mar(kc)s pretty much explained it.
The banner system went online yesterday. The banners that you are currently seeing are from moderators of the site...
I am allowing all moderators the option to submit their banners and have them in the rotation until September 1, 2001. After that, we will be allowing all members of the community to submit their banners to the rotation. There will be some minor requirments but it will be free in terms of monatary value. The requirments will be put in place so that they are very easy to achieve as long as you are fairly active in the community and you help support TWF.
It just so happens that the majority of the banners represent business sites which so happen to be the sites of the moderators that help make this forum run. Every banner at the top will take you to one of our moderators sites... If it's a business site, that's because that is the banner the moderator chose and I don't have a problem allowing them some free promotion (nor you, as of September 1) for the support they give to the forums.
The PSP banner you referenced was the site of one of the moderators a couple months ago when we started the banner rotation (which was taken down after some software difficulties) and he has since replaced the site with his business site (21studios.com) ... Per his request, we have removed that banner because of the misrepresentation but the rest should be accurate.
If you are an active member of TWF, keep watching this forum as I will be posting the requirments for getting a spot in the rotation within the next 7-10 days.

I think the banners to members sites are a great idea. Beats the heck out of other type adds that you see on the net. Maybe they will actually be useful. Kudos to whoever the brains behind that idea is.
