Avatars!

I see a couple of cool little Avatars! So far, I've only seen a thread with two seperate Avatars that need to load and I'm dealing with 28.8kbps speeds right now and they haven't significantly slowed the thread noticeably, if at all.

At this point, I think it's a cool little feature and I hope everyone has a chance to upload their avatar.

I want to hear what you think of the avatars out there so far... I personally like Megan's... The colors attract me more than anything but the butterfly just seems like it would match her personality... if I'm wrong, umm, well, it wouldn't be the first time Smiling

I just uploaded my beloved Golden Retriever, Marcy, there. That's a puppy picture. Smiling

Suggestions: Why not utilize the announcement feature and give instructions for everyone so they know how to use avatars and other new features?

I tried uploading mine, which is 45x20 and 6k in size, but I'm getting "The uploaded file is not a valid GIF or JPG file. Please ensure that it is an try again." even though it's a .gif file.

WTF?

Hey Chad,

Is this avatar acceptable (too commercial? are there rules on this yet?)? If not I'll use something else. Smiling

The Avatars are for you... As long as it fits the physical requirements (height and width and size), it doesn't matter to me if you use it for commercial purposes or personal purposes. By participating, we want to give you something back and exposure to your sites (whether they are hobby, personal, business, etc.) is just what we want to allow... The signature does that, now the avatars do that, and very soon, banners at the top will do that.

(My personal life is my commercial life so if I get around to creating an avatar, it'll probably be sponsoring my business...).

Yes, should it be .jpg or .jpeg instead?

No, .gif should work.
Try it again... Confused
