If there is no answer on Google, then there is no question.
I think you have to have a certain number of posts to be able to add an avatar. I thought it was 20, which you have already (18 posts per day! Wow!), but I'm not sure about that.
The poll was open for nearly a month... It's sad that only this many voted but that's all that voted. As stated in the original post, the poll would stay open until May 1. It closed at that time and votes were no longer accepted. I have to honor my commitment to close the poll on the 1st and to enable or disable avatars based on the poll. I agree that it isn't a complete poll of all the members (if it were, there would have been thousands of votes) but everyone had a chance...
As the poll indicates (by a small lead), the people that want Avatars outweigh those that do not...
Therefor, Avatars have been enabled for the time being. We'll give it a test run and assuming we don't a lot of complaints about slower access times, we will leave them up. Enjoy!
Vote yes! They let everyone create a sense of individuality for themselves, they lighten the atmosphere up a little, making TWF a fun place to be. They will make only minimal page loading differences since there is a limit on size in both dimensions and file size. There are numerous communities that are thriving using avatars, including mine, and there have been no complaints whatsoever. Perhaps if we give them a try, we will see the real benefits.
What's next? No logo because it's not needed? Please...
Distraction, repetition and clutter are the words I would use to describe avatars. Distraction because your eyes tend to travel there. Repetition because you see this over and over. Clutter needs no desciption. They are kind of cutesy but not neccessary.
Mark Irving I have a mind like a steel trap; it is rusty and illegal in 47 states
I presume you mean a little graphic under our name on the left side of the screen.
I use one on another site but frankly think it makes the overall site look unprofessional.

Ok I could now see the yes radio button. I uploaded one, this is a test as my previous posts don't show it by my name.
Thank you for the help!
YES! THANK YOU!

Yes I found that, and when I get to the bottom I click the button.
On the avatar page it just gives me the option no as a radio button.
I am lost, maybe a screenshot by me would help, unless I am still missing something.

Will our votes be included in the recount? I remember that during the presidential elections recount, votes from overseas got lost...

So what are the pixel dimensions of an avatar? I'm making one but I don't know what size to make it.

first, no idea how u cast a vote
second, with these few votes i don't think the poll has any merit. no clear consensus from the members, just a few vocal ones.

Well, it's kind of hard to vote in the poll when the poll is closed! I would vote yes though.
